Look To The Rainbow -Jazz Standards from L.A.-
2009.3.4
IOCD-20276/¥2,940(tax included)
Co-produced with Bill Cantos, who participated on piano and chorus in 『SOUL & BOSSA』 (2006). Bill Cantos, a singer/composer/pianist/arranger based in Los Angeles, is a leading artist in today's AOR scene. He has also performed with Sergio Mendes and has a deep knowledge of Brazilian music. Dori Caymmi (a Brazilian master who has been active in California for many years), who introduced Bill to Lisa Ono, also handled arrangements and guitar on two tracks.
The sound concept is precisely "Lisa Ono with Chorus." Chorus is featured on all tracks, including Take 6, who participated on two songs. For Lisa Ono, who has long been a fan of vocal groups like Brazil's Quarteto em Cy and Os Cariocas, and the USA's The Hi-Lo's, this album marks her first full-fledged collaboration with a chorus. Furthermore, many songs feature motifs of the sky, such as the moon, rainbows, and rain. Combined with the human-sounding chorus, this brings a natural expansiveness to the entire album, evoking the blue skies of Los Angeles.
